Germany Shocks Canada in Stunning Semifinal Upset

The string of unexpected defeats continued for Canada as the Men’s Hockey team was knocked off by Germany in the semifinals. The Canadians slumped early in the game as Germany took a 4–1 lead at the end of the second period. Canada would rally in the third, but Germany hung on for a 4–3 victory, collectively breaking all of Canada’s hearts again and ending any hopes of Leafs fans making a ‘it was 4–1 meme’ in their favour. The German team will be guaranteed their first hockey medal since the 1976 Games, and will also be guaranteed their best finish overall.

Heads up high Canada, the Men’s team will play for bronze tomorrow the next day against Czechia. Even without NHLers this year, they will still finish tournament than the 2006 squad, which finished seventh.
